What to expect if you contact our helpline

The key aims of our helpline service are:

  • To treat you with courtesy and respect
  • To treat you as an individual
  • To be non judgmental, easy to talk to and helpful
  • To listen to what you say and take this seriously
  • To keep what you say to us confidential, unless there is a serious risk of harm to someone.  This may require a breach of confidentiality to ensure the caller's or another person's safety or protection
  • To reply to telephone messages left on voice mail/answer phone within two working days from the date the message is received
  • To reply to letters, emails, text messages and Windows Live MSN Messenger within two working days from the date of receipt. (The time required for a fuller response, where necessary, will be negotiated and agreed with the caller on an individual basis)
  • To give clear information and advice
  • To clearly explain what we are going to do
  • To tell you about other relevant organisations or services that may be of assistance if we are unable to help you
