Below are some facts about Disability Hate Crime.
 
In the UK 90% of people with learning disabilities said they had been bullied or harassed in the preceding year.

47% of people with learning disabilities have experienced being frightened or attacked because of their disability
Of these 35% were physically assaulted, 15% were spat at, and 18% had something stolen.

20% of people with learning disabilities have experienced being attacked every week or more regularly
Note: if that Scottish figure was replicated in England, it would mean that 32,000 adults would be experiencing hate crime every week. That equates to 190 episodes every hour of every day.

In the first national survey of people with learning disabilities, 47% said they did not feel safe in their homes, their local area or using public transport.

In 2002 the crime prevention organisation, Nacro, found that disabled people were 4 times as likely to be violently attacked as non-disabled people?
Between March 2007-March 2009 a total of 1,200 defendants were prosecuted for disability hate crime. 76%these cases were successfully prosecuted to conviction. 
 
There were also 1,402 recorded crimes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the calendar year 2009 where the offences have been perceived as disability hate crimes by the victim or any other person.
